![]() ![]() Miller, who regularly gives wonderful performances as comic sidekicks at Stratford, is exquisite here, depicting the war between the pleasure and panic Pentheus feels within himself as he slips into a dress. Pentheus's real downfall comes when he decides to don women's clothing to spy on the Bakkhai. ![]() ![]() As Dionysos warns him: "Man against god – never wins." In order to reassert control over the women and their sexuality, Pentheus tries to jail the so-called Bakkhai – and their beloved Bakkhos, too. "Meanwhile, they call themselves a prayer group! Obviously, it's just sex." "There's a lot of wine involved and creeping off into corners with men," he tells us. Pentheus, the ruler of Thebes (played by Miller as a matter-of-fact middle manager), is disturbed by the fact that the women of his city – including his mother, Agave – have run off to the hills to engage in strange rituals in worship of this Dionysos. You may know this play as The Bacchae and the god of the grape as Dionysus or Bacchus, but Carson has fresh ideas about spelling – and pretty much everything else in her swaggering, authoritative translation. ![]()

![]() ![]() I don’t want a 14 or 15 year old reading this and thinking: “He treats me like shit and is aggressive = hot”. Ring made a name for itself with its residential video doorbells - and while Latch isn’t quite as open to the public (much of its catalog is intended for developers), it’ll be curious to see if that shifts with Siminoff’s arrival. It’s unclear if any new smart home products will emerge from this new partnership, but seeing as Ring made a massive impact on the smart home market, Latch is certainly a company to watch in 2023. ![]() ![]() Latch is a smart lock company and maker of LatchOS, a platform looking to make “spaces better places to live, work, and visit.” Not only will Siminoff be serving as its new CEO later this year, but the company has also acquired Honest Day’s Work (HDW), a platform founded by Siminoff that gives residential service providers (such as dog walkers, drivers, and housekeepers) an easier way to manage their businesses. The company was sold to the e-commerce giant in 2018, and after a few years serving as chief inventor, Siminoff is ready for a new challenge - serving as the CEO of Latch, Inc. Or even thirty-seven years if you are me! Spunk is important in any stage or age of life. This I thought was wonderful because it kept the book from getting preachy and made it just plain fun! Samantha has a hard time stopping the skates and they take her for quite a ride! She even skates through a wedding and the crazy times she has on the skates get more imaginative as the book goes on. She puts those skates on! Soon she's off and having fun! Like me at that age, Samantha doesn't let that get in her way one bit. However, her mom is too busy to give the official mom stamp of approval for Samantha to use the new skates. Samantha has a brand-spankin'-new pair of roller skates that she is dying to try out. Hence, our family now has some pithy stories about my childhood escapades (such as me using the top of my swing set as a balance beam when I was 4-years-old!) and so I loved this book. I was that kid that could not wait for my mom's approval to try out something new. ![]() ![]() ![]() You may also opt to downgrade to Standard Digital, a robust journalistic offering that fulfils many user’s needs.
